Study on the Wind Power Capacity Credibility Considering the Convergence Effect of Wind Farm Cluster

Chinese wind resources have obvious regional concentration and a unique intensive development method is formed as known as the wind farm cluster. The effect of convergence to capacity credibility is often ignored when the capacity credibility of wind farm cluster is assessed. Under this background, this paper studies the relationship between convergence effect and wind power in order to quantify the contribution of convergence effect to capacity credibility. Firstly, the wind power duration curve is used to describe the correlation between the low power duration and lost of load probability (LOLP). Secondly, the selection of optimal peakload period is determined in the calculation of peak-load rate method. Then, the increment caused by the convergence effect is taken into account and an evaluation method is proposed for wind farm cluster capacity credibility. Finally, this method is applied to evaluate an actual power system for the verification of effectiveness. This result is an important reference in the calculation of electric power balance for wind farm clusters.
