Economic Analysis of Ice-storage in Multiple Energy Systems: An Real-world Case Study

Integrating multiple energy systems (MES) such as gas, power, heat, and cooling systems is an effective way to improve the overall efficiency of the whole energy systems. MES is viewed as an important component of the construction of Energy Internet. There have been various demonstration projects for MES all around China since the government called for the construction of Energy Internet. This paper conducts real-world case studies on an MES in one Energy Internet demonstration project in Zhuhai, China, especially for the economic analysis of the role of ice-storage in the MES. Four scenarios with/without ice-storage are compared. Results show that the introduction of ice-storage can reduce the overall cost and lower the capacity requirement of other energy conversions in the MES.
