The attenuation of a right-hand polarized terahertz wave propagation in a magnetized and non-uniform plasma with the WKB method

By utilizing Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) method, the attenuation propertiy of a right-hand polarized terahertz electromagnetic (EM) wave penetrating into the nonuniform plasma is studied in this paper. A Bell-like profile and an Epstein profile are taken to make analysis in simulation. The results demonstrate that the Bell-like distribution of plasma density has lower attenuation than that of the Epstein distribution when the EM wave throughout a plasma. In addition, the other parameters, the peak plasma density, plasma slab thickness and magnetic field strength influence the attenuation of the terahertz wave
