Routing Methods for Wireless Networks Using MIMO Support: A Survey and Future Scope

Wireless Networks has been transformed from the first generation (1G) technology to fifth generation (5G) technology providing multitudinous applications to the society. Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna technology enables wireless network devices with multiple transmission mediums. Hardware up gradation benefits can be fully achieved only by smart routing methods in wireless network. This paper summarizes and compares the recent routing methods given in the literature for wireless networks with MIMO support. Briefed analysis of discussed routing protocols are presented while discussing open issues for further research in the evolvement of routing methods for wireless network with MIMO support. MIMO technology has caliber to give ten times faster data speed with more reliable communication channel. For achieving this goal, it is essential to route the signals in an optimal manner.
