Experimental Observations on Burning Behavior of Inclined Thin Wood Sheets

To investigate the behaviors of upward flame spread over inclined thin wood sheets, a series of experiments were performed with different inclination angles varying 0° to 90° from the horizontal were carried out. Experiments were performed on uniform thin sheets samples with 1.5 mm thickness, 1000 mm height and 50 mm width. Measurements made in this paper included front and back flame heights, pyrolysis height, pyrolysis zone, burnout length, and the relationship between the angle of flame body and the specimen, respectively. Flame acceleration at different inclination angles, and the relationship between the angle of flame body and the specimen surface are obtained. The process of flame spread at different inclined angles is divided into three regions, namely, stable spread zone, slow acceleration zone, and fast acceleration zone.
