Unmanned Vehicle with Obstacle Avoidance Technology Based on Ultrasonic Ranging

Automatic obstacle avoidance technology is one of the core technologies of the driverless car and intelligent robot. The aim I write this paper is that through the explosion of the obstacle avoidance technology can I gain referable hardware control equipments, relevant control software and basic data, and finally conclude a reasonable obstacle avoidance scheme which can be applied into the practice. The paper intend to use the caterpillar two drive car as the experimental subject, with the development board called ESP8266, utilize the ultrasonic sensor to measure the distance between the car and the obstacle. According to the distance to do the right obstacle avoidance strategy automatically. This article firstly illustrates the abroad development of the intelligent car with Automatic obstacle avoidance technology and introduce the consistent of this car which including hardware equipments and the software programs. I used the develop board ESP8266 as the development platform, placed the three ultrasonic sensors on the front side, right side and left side. And put a sound transducer to collect sound signal. So that the signal collected can be more integrated and comprehensive. Then I wrote a reasonable program about obstacle avoidance. According to the different situation the car will meet, I wrote five different strategies which are applied into five different environments. At last, in case that the car cannot do the obstacle avoidance. This car can be controlled by our mobile phones as well, which can enhance its functionality and usability. Tested by experiments, the car I invented can not only be controlled by human beings, but it can do the automatic obstacle avoidance without people as well. The car meets all the require of the scheme and achieves the aim of obstacle avoidance automatically. It can be well applied into practice.
