Study on Influence of Non-Contact Measuring Circuit on Micro EDM Using Non-Contact Electric Feeding Method

In micro electrical discharge machining (EDM) using non-contact electric feeding method, a measuring electrode is coupled to the tool electrode by capacity coupling to measure the gap voltage indirectly. Especially in micro discharge energy, the influence of the parameters of the non-contact measuring circuit on the working gap voltage and the measuring voltage has not been studied yet, meanwhile, the working gap voltage and the measuring voltage affect the discharge energy and the servo control of the discharge gap. Therefore, in order to clarify the influence of the parameters in the non-contact measuring circuit on the micro EDM using non-contact electric feeding method, the relationship between the parameters of the non-contact measuring circuit and the working gap voltage or the measuring voltage was analyzed by MULTISIM(circuit simulation software) in this paper. Finally, the influence of the working gap voltage is minimized and the servo control of the gap width in Micro EDM is realized by selecting reasonable parameters of the non-contact measuring circuit.
