Ultrasonic Detection of Partial Discharge on Typical Defects of Basin Insulator in GIS

Partial discharge (PD) detection plays an important role in finding potential internal defects of gas insulated transmission switch-gear (GIS). In order to better detect the defects of basin insulator inside GIS, different defects of epoxy resin samples in the laboratory are used to simulate the defects of the basin insulator in GIS, and then the PD model of GIS basin insulator is established, using the ultrasonic detection method to detect PD signals. The experimental results indicate that the ultrasonic signals of different defects show different characteristics in the discharge inception voltage, discharge phase and discharge number, which can provide reference for the diagnosis and pattern recognition of basin insulator defects in GIS.
