Investigation of Cross Modulation for SC-FDMA Signals in Radio over Fiber Mobile Link

This paper investigates a transmission performance of the single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) signal on radio over fiber (RoF) uplink. Analog-type RoF link is promising solution for broad bandwidth, simple configuration of remote antenna site and low latency transmission. However, non-linearity property in E/O device causes distortion due to cross modulation. Although many articles have reported the cross modulation and its countermeasure, cross modulation effect has not well evaluated when the SC-FDMA signals transmitted through RoF using an external modulator. This paper evaluates transmission performance of RoF mobile link for transmitting the SC-FDMA signals in terms of its spectrum and bit error rate (BER).
