Reconfigurable Metasurface for Adaptive Focal Position Lens

An electronically reconfigurable reflective metasurface is designed to implement the phase distribution required to focus energy to any pre-defined spatial position. The proposed structure is composed of reconfigurable meta-atoms that incorporate voltage-controlled electronic elements. The phase characteristics of each meta-atom are individually tailored for the reconfigurability mechanism. Measurement tests are performed on the fabricated reconfigurable metasurface to validate the proposed concept and to verify the theoretical calculations.
