Device-to-Device Communication Assisted by Selective DTF Relay for MIMO Cooperative System

In this paper, we investigate the bit error rate (BER) performance of Device-to-device (D2D) communication assisted by selective detect and forward (DTF) relay node for a cooperative multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system with multiple antennas. We assume that the relay and destination D2D nodes consist of multiple antennas. We first formulate the closed form BER expressions for a D2D link assisted by a relay node with multiple antennas. Further, the asymptotic tight approximation for BER is analyzed under high signal-to-interference plus noise (SINR) regime. Numerical results are presented to validate the analytical results and also depict the tightness of the approximation. Further, the performance improvement of our proposed relaying scheme is compared with the other existing relaying schemes.
