IoT based Smart Vehicle Ignition and Monitoring System

With the advancements in technology, several smart innovations are being introduced by automobile manufacturers across the world to enhance their product portfolio. These can vary from implementing simple solutions such as navigation systems, to more complex ones such as driver assistance systems, which in turn could monitor multiple parameters of the vehicle in order to assist the driver. This paper focuses on one such driver assistance solution which not only intimates the driver on the well-being of his or her car but also adds additional layers of security to prevent vehicular theft. Keeping in mind driver safety, the paper also proposes an idea to prevent the vehicle from starting in case of alcohol consumption by the driver and also incorporates an emergency alert system in case of accidents. A novel accurate method to calculate fuel levels of a vehicle has also been elaborated. This work has been designed and implemented using a Raspberry Pi - Arduino combination and is also highly cost effective.
