Energy-saving Research for Pneumatic System by Optimized Valve Switching Control Strategy

Pneumatic system is widely used in various fields, which consume almost 10% electric energy per year in China. Improving the energy efficiency of pneumatic system is significant to power saving. In this paper, a new control strategy which can reduce air consumption in cylinder working stroke was established by mathematical model of a new type pneumatic circuit and optimization method based on SQP. As a result, more than 50% air consumption can be saved with the new control strategy, and the impact of the piston at the end of the stroke can also be reduced.
