A Design of an Enhanced Redundant SIP Model for Securing SIP-Based Networks

A large number of service providers are looking for a secured model that can be easily implemented in their own environments and provide a secure architecture against today's vulnerabilities and threats. Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is one the most popular protocols that is used in IP multimedia subsystems and adopted by a wide level of networking vendors. This research proposes a secure distributed SIP-based architectural model that can be deployed in service provider data centers to maintain the service availability, scalability, and security. The proposed model, called the enhanced redundant session initiation protocol model, is developed to reduce the SIP attempts into the session border controllers. The proposed model was tested in a real SIP service provider and the results showed that the enhanced redundant session initiation protocol model can decrease the session initiation protocol attempts over SIP trunks.
