A Novel Feeder Partitioning Strategy for Distribution Network with Highly Penetrative DGs

It is hard for traditional current protection to solve problems of distribution networks with highly penetrative DGs. The fault information required by the most protection methods cannot be provided by the poor infrastructure of distribution networks. A novel feeder partitioning strategy is proposed to promote selective configuration of protection scheme. This strategy divides distributed networks into three zones by analyzing the incorrect operation and no-operation of traditional current protection caused by the increase and decrease of short circuit currents caused by IIDGs (Inverter Interfaced Distributed Generators) connected to buses, which is practical and economical.
