The Development of UHF Sensor for GIS Partial Discharge Measurement

Ultra High Frequency (UHF) method is a common detection method for gas insulated switchgear (GIS) equipment. UHF sensor is a key part for the detection. The performance of UHF sensor concerns the quality of the measurement in field. A disc-shaped UHF sensor is developed in this paper. The influencing factors is analyzed and the optimization structure of the disk shaped sensor is proposed based on the simulation. The simulation results show that the optimization structure has the low voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and wide band characteristics. It has good performance for GIS partial discharge detection as inner UHF sensor.
