Performance Analysis of Massive MIMO Network in the Downlink Scenario

The rapid increase in the number of mobile users, transmission of voluminous data, and need for higher data rates are pushing to rethink the current generation of the mobile cellular communication. Upcoming or fifth generation (5G) cellular networks are expected to meet high-end requirements. Massive MIMO is the one of the key technologies to increase spectral efficiency (SE) in the next generation cellular networks. The SE of cellular networks can be improved by increasing base station (BS) antennas. BS is capable of communicating with multiple subscribers at the same time in the same frequency spectrum and also making it possible to increase the multiplexing and array gain simultaneously. This paper investigates variation in the spectral efficiency due to change in the user equipments (UE's) and BS antennas of the massive MIMO network in the downlink scenario.
