Animal Tracking in Wildlife Footage with Quantum Particle Filter (QPF)

Animal behavior analysis in wildlife footage is a preoccupying domain in the society of wildlife biologist. In wildlife video, tracking of a particular animal in a herd is very challenging task due to its unpredictable motion, as well as analogous appearance with others. In order to deal with these issues, in the work we have proposed a maneuvering tracker that uses the notion of quantum measurement in Particle filter. The proposed Quantum Particle Filter (QPF) based tracking technique efficiently handles the abrupt motion of the animal in a video. Subjective and objective evaluation of the proposed method has been accomplished and compared with other state-of-the-art methods. Some wildlife videos from the publicly available benchmark data sets are used for experiments. The results shows the superiority of the proposed method over others.
