Theoretical and Experimental Study of GSM Frequencies in the Offices

This study investigates the theoretical and experimental indoor propagation characteristics of signals in 2G, 3G and 4G with different amplitudes. A multilayer model for indoor attenuation is used for theoretical calculations. It enables us to obtain transmission and reflection coefficients of the layers, which are actually the rooms that we are interested in. Field strength measurements were made on different rooms and field inside the building in Bogazici University Campus. Theoretical simulation results are compared with the experimental results. Consistent results with the experimental measurements were observed. Important factors that affect the path loss were investigated. This study can be useful in the coverage zone prediction studies since 5G signals are also going to be used for urban home broadband coverage.
