Study of Dynamic Behavior of Induction Motor Drive for Electric Vehicle

At present, there is a strong tendency to create and implement energy-efficient technical solutions throughout the field of application of electric drives. In this regard, the operation improvement of the electric part of electric vehicles is especially topical. After all, it is important to always analyze and evaluate the overall solution, both technically and cost-effectively. The paper deals with the evaluation of behavior during operation and energy losses of an urban electric vehicle drive during ongoing dynamic processes. For the purpose of simulation studies, a suitable mathematical model combining the electrical and mechanical part of the drive has been developed. The motor (asynchronous type), which is the main component, is used for vehicle transformation replacing the internal combustion engines of city vehicles with front drive wheels. Regarding the control part - an electronic motor control system is applied. The results obtained are presented in tabular and graphical form and refer to the separate energy losses in the induction motor for different values of supply voltage / frequency and inertia coefficient. According to these results, corresponding comments and conclusions are given.
