An LSF Based DG Placement Approach for Power Losses Minimization of the Radial Distribution Network

Generator placement is one of the conventional methods which is adopted to get the benefits in terms of minimizing the power losses and voltage profile enhancement in the radial distribution network (RDN). This formulation is known as the optimal generator placement (OGP) problem. OGP is taken as a composite and non-linear problem, in the outlook of optimization. To solve this problem in this paper, initially, a loss sensitivity factor (LSF) method is utilized to highlight the potential candidate buses for the generator placement then a self-sorting approach (SSA) is proposed, which decides the potential bus for the generator placement and generator rating as well. To evaluate the performance of the proposed approach IEEE 15,33, and 69 bus systems are considered as a test system, and the results are compared with the literature in terms of voltage profile and power losses, for all types of distribution generators (DGs).
