Fourier Analysis for the Reconstruction of Radiating Sources on Conic Curves

In this paper, we present useful upper-bounds to the Number of Degrees of Freedom (NDF) for some 2D source conic geometries and for two different representation variables choices. These results come out from asymptotic considerations on the radiation integrals and are shown for an elliptic and a parabolic arc source observed in far zone Since an estimation of the NDF is available for an elliptical source, the obtained results are compared with those ones available for the smallest elliptical source incorporating the considered arcs. Then, the role of the source length in the NDF is pointed out thanks to numerical examples and it is shown that a more accurate estimation for the NDF can be obtained.
