Simulation of Spectral Division Multiplexing For Monitoring Identical FBGs

The Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs) can be easily incorporated into sensor network for structural health monitoring. The FBGs in these networks can be monitored by various multiplexing techniques such as wavelength division multiplexing or time division multiplexing. However identical FBGs with overlapping spectra present in the network mask each other, and generally cannot be distinguished. In this paper, a new method of spectral division multiplexing is proposed which can monitor identical individual FBGs in a serial sensor network. The simulation results are presented below.
