Design of battery charger with power path controller and fuel gauge for point of sale (POS) terminal

A POS system or Point of sale (POS) terminal is a combination of hardware and software. POS terminal is a replacement for cash register, it has ability to record and track customer orders and it is used to process credit, debit card payments and many other functions. POS system requires suitable input power for its operation. Battery charger with power path controller (BQ24171) helps to charge the battery efficiently and also select the appropriate power path to the system load. Fuel gauge (34Z100) IC has inbuilt coulomb counter, Which helps to measure the charge added to and removed from the battery.
