A 2.4GHz CMOS Double Balanced Down Conversion Gilbert Cell Mixer Design Using 180nm Technology

This paper presents the modified design of an analog CMOS down conversion double balanced Gilbert cell frequency mixer for RF receiver front end application operating at 2.4 GHz input RF frequency and 1.8V power supply. Mixers are frequency translation circuit i.e it translates incoming RF signal to an intermediate frequency (IF), by multiplying with local oscillator signal (LO). The mixer has conversion gain of 9.6dB and linearity analysis parameter with 1-dB compression point is about -4dBm and noise figure of 9dB for 180nm technology. Spectre simulator of Cadence is considered for simulation of mixer schematic. The local oscillator frequency of the proposed mixer is 2.41 GHz. Virtuoso layout editor is used for layout design.
