Application Assisted Network Slice Selection Information at the Network Edge

Network slicing enables deployment of multiple virtual networks customized to different service and users using the same physical infrastructure. Network slice selection information may be configured in User Equipment (UE) and may be dynamically provided by the network. The paper presents an approach to open access to the slice update which enables applications deployed at Radio Access Network (RAN) to assist the UE in network slice selection during mobility management procedures. The application-based slice selection may consider the RAN congestion level and current radio conditions.
