Optimal Synthesis of Elliptical Antenna Array

In this paper, an elliptical array design with several objectives like side lobe level (SLL) optimization and null steering along with a beam width (BW) constraints is proposed. The modified formulation of the array factor of an elliptical antenna array (EAA) is used. The design is carried out using amplitude only technique in which the coefficients of current excitation are determined by evolutionary computing algorithm known as the accelerated particle swarm optimization (APSO). The analysis of the elliptical array is carried out in terms of simulated radiation pattern with respect to the desired and optimized SLL, null depth and BW.
