A Probabilistic Approach For Power Network Stability in Smart Grids

Uncertainties in demand profile and lower efficiency of renewable energy resources (RERs) make the load flow balancing (LFB) and transient stability (TS) analysis a challenging task in renewable integrated power grids (RIPGs). This situation becomes more complex in case, where three phase line to line (L- L-L) fault with corresponding single or multiple intervals, arises in the system network. A single interval three-phase (L-L-L) fault (SITPF) occurs in the power system when the corresponding occurrence of a three phase line to line fault interval time is very less. A power system is more vulnerable to multiple intervals three-phase (L-L-L) fault (MITPF) if three-phase (L-L-L) fault remained in power system for a longer time, which significantly reduces the reliability of a power grid. To address this problem, a new approach is adopted in this paper that performs LFB and TS analysis through the smart node and unified power flow controller.
