High-Voltage Pulse Generator for High Repetition Rate Operation

A high-voltage with high repetition rate pulse generator is presented. Nonlinear transmission line (NLTL) circuit is introduced to compress the rise time of input pulse. Forty-nine sections NLTL model is proposed, and the rise time of an input pulse voltage of 3-kV amplitude can be reduced from 150 to less than 55ns. Moreover, NLTL with 49 $L-C$ sections is also designed and soliton theory is discussed. Simulated results demonstrate the availability of this design. Pulse generator which provides 0-8 kV adjustable voltage is fabricated. The repetition rate can reach to 400 kHz, and the rise time is scaled to 142ns.
