Sabre-Like Omnidirectional Dual-Polarized Antennas for Low Wind Drag Applications

In this paper, two omnidirectional dual-polarized antennas are proposed with sabre-like structure. In the proposed dual-polarized antennas, horizontal polarization is generated by an open-ended cavity. The magnetic currents at the open-ended aperture can generate omnidirectional radiation. To achieve a dual-polarized antenna, two design strategies are proposed in this paper. In the first design, a monopole antenna is extended from the cavity to generate vertical polarization with omnidirectional radiation. In the second design, a folded slot is etched on the cavity for vertical polarization. Both of the antennas have a sabre-like structure, which has high potential for low wind drag applications.
