Analyzing Viral Genomic Data Using Hadoop Framework in Big Data

Big data analytics allow different companies, institutions and organizations to research and explore data to identify patterns when incorporated with business or biological context. Genomics is one of the growing domains producing humongous biological data. DNA or RNA is found in viruses. Hence, big-data helps us to analyse viral genomic data using Hadoop. There are numerous databases such as RefSeq, Uniprot, viral-host database, viralzone that function as sources of data. Using Hadoop we have tried to combine the data from various sources on one platform. This analysis helps to explore about genome structure, growth rate, number and size with respect to diverse viral groups present in different databases and domains. It is cost effective, less time consuming, aids to develop a new technique and smart decision making. Further, the data can also be retrieved by python and/or R programming using Big Data.
