Smart Bus Arrival Notification for Visually Impaired

Public transportation such as a bus is often used to travel to various places in Indonesia. Each bus will only stop at each bus stop transit. However, the bus stop transit in Indonesia, especially at Bandung city, is not friendly to disable person like visually impaired people. In this research, a smart public transportation bus stop transit is designed and implemented, which can inform the identities of the next arrival bus through sound and text display. This research purposed to provide a device which gives a natural movement for the visually impaired in using public transportation and reducing the dependence on other people in doing daily activities in their lives. This system is using NRF24L01 as a sender and receiver the data between bus and the bus stop transit. According to the testing result, this system can transmit the information about 30 meters from the bus stop transit. The delay occurs around 2–3 seconds for a single coming bus, and 5–6 seconds to the bus which arrived into the bus stop platform at the same time.
