Decentralized Droop Control in DC Microgrid

A decentralized way of droop control technique is proposed in this paper. This is achieved by using three renewable sources of energy which are Solar Panel, Battery and Wind Turbine. Main aim is to maintain the power balance in the system when there is a sudden change in irradiance, windspeed or SoC level. The droop control must work efficiently so that the increase/decrease in voltage is compensated and load power is maintained effectively. For this, four systems each of the PV, Wind and Battery are taken into consideration, where there will be variations in irradiation level, temperature, wind speed and SOC levels. The variations in the each system is adjusted and maintained constant by using a droop resistance which varies depending on the converter current and the load voltage. This is implemented in MATLAB/Simulink for a DC Microgrid having the specification of 48V and 1kW power.
