Leakage Analysis of Copper Pipe for Air Conditioner

Some copper pipe leakage are found during air-conditioner installation. Through pressure penetration test, penetration flaw test, low-power inspection of surface and fracture, microscopic morphology observation and composition analysis of corrosion products, these copper pipes for air-conditioner have been analyzed. The results show that cracks, crystallized products and a large number of nest corrosion holes are found on the inner surface of the copper pipe. Some corrosion holes extend continuously, and then through-wall micro-cracks form which lead to the decline of holding capacity for copper pipe. In the process of operation, the copper pipe is not enough to guarantee the internal pressure, resulting in leakage. It is suggested that the manufacturer should focus on the cleaning process after welding process, and not use flux.
