Challenges and opportunities of smart grids implementation: A case of Colombia electricity sector

This document contains an analysis of the challenges and opportunities in the integration of smart grids in the Colombian power system. Starting from the review of the integration of technological trends in AMI, distributed generation, demand response, energy storage, electric vehicles and digital network, from the point of view of policy guidelines, regulatory instruments, current status and case studies. Finally, some challenges and opportunities to massify the use of smart grids in the country are identified, maximizing the benefits for different actors.
