A Hybrid Localization Algorithm Based on Error Correction

Localization algorithms based on error correction have been given attention for improving the localization accuracy and coverage rate of nodes. This study proposes a hybrid localization method based on error correction by combining approximate point-in-triangulation (APIT) and centroid algorithms. The angle is first computed to determine the exact direction of unknown nodes. All the unknown nodes within the triangle then locate themselves using an improved APIT algorithm, wherein iteration is performed to narrow the localization area of the triangle. Finally, the localization area of the nodes that cannot be located is narrowed through area searching method, and the location information is computed using an improved centroid algorithm. Simulation results show that the localization accuracy of the hybrid localization algorithm is approximately 6% higher than that of the improved centroid algorithm. The localization coverage rate of the hybrid localization algorithm is approximately 37% higher than that of the improved APIT algorithm.
