Integrated Solar PV MPPT and V-f Control for Stand-alone Microgrid

The stand-alone microgrid is subjected to malicious consequences of failures and drastic variations in load demand. In the present era, non-conventional energy sources play an essential role in substituting the conventional sources of energy. With the growing energy demands, the increasing need for robustness in power modulators plays an important role not only to monitor peak power, but also in upkeeping the system consistency. A substantial portion of this paper covers a microgrid system that involves a two-stage integration of PV array in a stand-alone mode employing Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) approach thereby proposing the voltage-frequency ($\mathrm{V}-f$) control strategy to give proper pulse width modulation (PWM) as a firing pulse to the inverter's gate. It is basically a close loop strategy to stabilize the system after several disturbances due to sudden load change or fault with certain oscillation. A computed model in accordance with the physical counterpart is simulated using Simulink. The results clearly assure the effective use of controller in proposed stand-alone system.
