Design and Analysis of the Dual Polarization Coherent Photoreceiver for Quadrature Optical Modulation and Sensitivity of PDM-QPSK System

In this paper, optical fiber coherent detection and sensitivity of PDM QPSK system are studied. A PDM-QPSK transmission with EDFA and polarization diversity coherent detection optical receiver, Mech-Zehnder Modulation and Hybrid Model have been considered to introduce individual power split ratios for each optical coupler and allows responsivities for each photodiode. An equation of splitting equal optical power between the in-phase and quadrature tributaries for a symmetrical signal is derived. By combining the TE and TM orthogonal polarization to create a dual-polarization QPSK input signal is presented. Since the sensitivity of optical power varies with parameters, the MATLAB based approaches are proposed to evaluate the distortionless transmission through the system. Although, in general, this one helps where the noise power is not additive but depends strongly on the photocurrent sample. Finally, the analytical expressions for evaluation are presented which provides the bit error rate performance of the system and error performance result.
