Analysis of sentiments in political-based tweets using machine learning techniques

Twitter is one of the powerful social media platforms which can be used to learn the perspective of users on various aspects. Tweets can be used to work on various use cases like, to get the viewpoint on the latest release of a product, to estimate the number of supporters for an event, to identity the weightage of someone’s idea and so on.(/P)(P)Tweets are helpful in analyzing the sentiments of the users towards multiple political parties. Not only can a user be in favor of or against a political party but may also have mixed opinion about it. This is considered as positive, negative or neutral sentiments. This study is an attempt to make the prediction of the users’ opinion on different political parties utilizing machine learning algorithms. Congress and BJP are the political parties considered for the study. The sentiment of people, towards these two political parties, are analyzed using SVM and Naïve Bayes algorithm.
