Closed Loop Operation of Induction Machine using MRAS based Sensorless Scheme

Sensorless control of electrical machines are now extensively used not only in motoring mode but also preferred in power generation due to its smaller size with lower maintenance and cost. This requires the sensorless control scheme for speed estimation to be investigated extensively in various aspects. Therefore, the paper presents the performance evaluation of closed loop model reference adaptive system (MRAS) based sensorless scheme for speed estimation in induction machine drive using field oriented control. Operation of induction machine drive has been investigated for parametric variation and current harmonic content in both generating and motoring mode in MATLAB/Simulink environment.
