Harmonics Mitigation Approach by Using An Unconventiona148-Pu1se Passive Rectifier

This article reveals a relatively new 48-pulse uncontrolled rectifier for harmonics compensation of input AC line current. The proposed rectifier utilizes the conventional 24-pulse parallelly connected rectifier with the addition of a passive current injection circuit. The passive current injection circuit consists of two additional lower rated power diodes which are connected to the secondary side of a dual tapped interphase transformer. THD value of the AC side current is found 3.64% which is very low and it also fulfills the IEEE 519-1992 standard. The simplicity of the proposed rectifier scheme makes it flexible to operate compared to other complex looking existing designs. This paper also explains the operation and simulation process of the proposed rectifier scheme with proper figures and equations.
