Fog - Cloud Computing Traffic Model and Performance Evaluation for Ubiquitous Sensor Network Infrastructure

We presented a possible method of data transmission via characteristics traffic model by focuses on measuring, manipulating, or both in the system. We used a microcontroller board for measuring and manipulating in wireless type through the implementation on the fog - cloud computing traffic model architecture design consisting of Ubiquitous Sensor Network layer, Fog computing layer, and Cloud computing layer. The fog - cloud computer is a critical part of the system requirements for operations on the USN in the appropriate format. In this paper, we analyzed the situation that can occur in the measuring and manipulating through the microcontroller boards by the traffic model which can be divided into 7 USNs and use latency measurement to demonstrate the efficiency of data transmission in each traffic model and the number of devices in the system. Latency test has divided two cases consisting of testing to compare the overall data transmission for 7 USNs that has different working requirements and comparing the number of connected devices. The latency test did not depend on the connection to the internet network. We found that if we increased the number of working devices and complicated operation, we had high latency in the range of 4700 - 6500 ms. Otherwise, the uncomplicated operation had latency in the range of 2000 - 4500 ms. Therefore, the working model and the number of connected devices is a factor affecting the efficiency of data transmission in the USNs of fog - cloud computing traffic model.
