Radial Force Reduction of Switched Reluctance Motor with Inner Rotor Holes

In this paper, a novel rotor structure that implements holes within the rotor of a switched reluctance motor (SRM) to reduce the radial force while maintaining the output torque is proposed. Radial force contributes to vibration in SRM, especially because of its doubly salient, single excited structure. The effect of holes in the rotor is examined in this study. Finite element analysis (FEA) is used to see the characteristics of the motor. Simulation results show the viability of the proposed structure.
