Enhancement of Access Features for a Gated System in a Guarded Community

Safety on the residential area is a crucial element to residents and many measures have been taken to prevent any unforeseen circumstances from happening. The current security features in the residential area include hiring security guards, monitoring the external guests at the main entrance and limiting access to the residential areas. The installation of closed-circuit television would incite fear within criminals, however, due to the high cost of installation and maintenance, some of the residential areas do not have this feature. For guarded residential areas, the security guard is hired to monitor the outsiders who enter the area. However, due to human factor this duty is neglected and hence loosen the security measures. This issue becomes common and fearful where outsiders with unknown intentions could easily access the residential areas. The proposed system is to enhance the safety level in a residential area by admitting only authorized guests to access the area. The visitors with a valid QR code generated by the house owner will be granted access. The system is developed with Internet of Things architecture layers where it communicates and store the information of the visitors to a cloud server. The system improves the safety features within the residential area by allowing approved visitors and deterring unauthorized visitors who might post risk from entering the area.
