The harmonic characteristics of HVDC system under AC voltage distortion

In this paper, the harmonic characteristics of HVDC system under AC voltage distortion were studied. Through digital simulation and mathematical analysis, it was found that the HVDC system would produce kp/spl plusmn/(m-2) and m order uncharacterized harmonics at AC side, and kp/spl plusmn/(m-1) order uncharacterized harmonics at DC side under AC voltage distortion. Here p is the pulse number of the converter, m is the order of AC harmonic voltage and k is a natural number. In addition, the value of the uncharacterized DC voltage harmonics was thoroughly studied which can be used to estimate the uncharacterized DC voltage harmonics in real engineering.
