Abstract:

In the Czech Republic, HTA studies are only required for pharmaceuticals. For this reason, many health technology assessment work is being done by academic institution. A number of HTA methods are used within student's theses in the Department of Biomedical Technology, the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague. The environment of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering thus contributes to the cultivation of HTA in the Czech Republic and in connection with the field of biomedical engineering interesting works are being created here. There is an effort to create works that have a practical impact, and many works arise in connection with the requirements of practice.

I. Introduction

Thus, the evaluation process of the effectiveness of new health technologies for the needs of a correct and effective distribution of the limited financial resources has also become a necessary component of healthcare services [1],[2]. In this respect, the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) can be used to support these processes as it seeks a balance between the pressure for cutting costs and enabling a fast launch of effective innovative technologies into the healthcare process [2],[3].
