Impermeable Layer Leakage Detection using a Transmission Line Model

This paper presents a circuit location system that detects high-density polyethylene (HDPE) leakage for landfills. The boundary electrical parameters in the non-uniform transmission lines model are used to derive the ranging equation, the power frequency is varied from 5 to 30 MHz, and the terminal load is varied from 1 to 10 KΩ to verify the model resolution. An out-of-synchronization error analysis is performed for the double-end electrical parameters. Finally, the error of the experimental precision is determined using the quasi-Newton algorithm and the conjugate gradient algorithm. The experimental results show that based on synchronous sampling and the conjugate gradient algorithm, when the power frequency ranges from 15 to 20 MHz and the terminal load ranges from 5 to 6 KΩ, the terminal sampling reaches a maximum numerical value that varies, and the positioning results are more accurate.
