Monitoring System for a Single Aged Person by Using Smart Meter - Demonstration Test

We have been developing a monitoring system for a single aged person by using a smart meter. As a data acquisition system from a smart meter, we developed a palm-sized device named "Cube J" which extracts instantaneous power consumption of a household. As monitoring algorithms, we developed three algorithms named "Percentile method", "Average method", and "Fluctuation estimate method", on a basis of household electricity consumption. And we made a prototype monitoring system with the algorithms and the device. Then we installed the systems at actual five aged households and began the demonstration test. The results of the test suggested that "Fluctuation estimate method" was the best for practical purposes.
