Consumer's Activity Prediction in Household Water Consumption Based-IoT (Internet of Things)

Due to a global water crisis that has been impacted in many countries, we need a smart water monitoring system to solve and reduce water scarcity. The current smart water monitoring has already been produced by a specific tech company, but the cost is still expensive for most people. In this paper, we proposed a novel and low-cost smart water monitoring system which has capability to predict water consumption in a household activity. This water monitoring system integrates with Internet of Things (IoT) Concept. Our prototype system is a water flow sensor which is connected to a microcontroller called NodeMCU 8266. We have embedded the code to the microcontroller to get data through water flow sensor. The data will then stored in the “cloud storage”. We developed a web application which is accessible for the user to monitor their water consumption activity. The purpose of this research is to figure out people's water consumption in daily use. People would know how much water (liter) they have been using for each activity in the household. For example, Shower, Washstand, Washing Machine, etc. This water monitoring is designed and expected to predicts that kind of water consumption activity correctly. The impact of using this system is to increase people's awareness about saving water for sustainable our water resources.
