Long Term Cost of using Active ITA's

Rapidly developed test solutions meant for early prototyping and initial design verification tend to make their way into the production and field and repair processes. This results in excessive sustainment costs over the product's life cycle. Whether meant as a short-term prototype or as a quick and easy lab experiment for a development engineer, these solutions do not have the test instrument methodology embedded into their core that is required for long-term sustainment. Short term solutions significantly drive up costs for DoD programs.
